Original Art
Annapolis native Kim Hovell draws inspiration from downtown Annapolis and its various waterways leading into the famous Chesapeake Bay. Through her personal impressionistic and abstract style, Kim’s goal is to share the charming landscapes and natural beauty of her hometown with everyone who experiences her artwork. You can find Kim Hovell’s paintings and artwork-inspired home goods downtown at her gallery store located in downtown Annapolis at 151 Main Street.
In terms of today’s artist landscape, especially with the era of AI, Kim and the team prioritize authenticity and quality in art. We have seen how oversaturated the market has been with artificially generated designs that lack real depth and emotion. Seeing the brushstroke details and slightest imperfection make art unique and expressive which you can experience in Kim’s originals and her accessible paper and canvas prints.
Art Printing and Custom Design
At the Kim Hovell studio we produce all of our prints and canvases in-house. The process of printing Kim’s art involves using top of the line inkjet printers that allow us to capture Kim's artwork down to the finest detail. Through these impressive techniques, the art you choose can be customized into any size possible while still maintaining its texture and authenticity.

What you may not know that makes our popular town stand out among the rest is the tight knit community woven into it. We are a supportive, community-focused area and have done countless events and collaborations with our local neighbors around the state of Maryland which in turn has brought a positive impact to their businesses and non-profits. From working with our studio neighbors at Annapolis Candle to supporting the Oyster Recovery Partnership aiming to restore the oyster popular in our local waterways, Kim’s artistic expression and philanthropy has helped uplift the community and bring exposure to our nautical town.

I absolutely love this store! I always find something when I come in and always bring friends in when they are visiting and they always leave with something.
My husband and I were just married at the Paca House in downtown Annapolis and wanted to bring in local artists and companies into our wedding weekend. Kim actually has a print of the Paca House that we used in our welcome bags for guests staying in our hotel block.
I worked with their print and design specialist to have this specially made to have the timeline of our wedding on the pack of the postcard print and WOW did it come out beautifully! We were so happy with the support we got from them even though this is not what their shop really does. Everyone loved having this piece of art to take home with them and we love that it could be used as a gift and information for the weekend. And we are so glad we have the larger print in our home to memorialize our special weekend :)
